LDA, a government based institution, monitors the development in Lahore, Punjab. LDA approves any new housing scheme or new construction in the city. It was established by the Punjab Legislative Assembly under the LDA Act of 1975. Establishment and maintenance of parks and green areas is also the obligation of LDA. The aim of this institution is to make Lahore one of the thirty leading cultural, industrial, educational, commercial and information technology centres of the world by 2020.
Dozens of development projects were completed last year in the city by LDA.
Creation of 1,599 additional plots and re-planning of housing scheme LDA Avenue-One. This move was taken for those thousands of affected persons who could not get possession of their plots even after 12 years.
Completion of project worth RS 4.35 Billion which connected two important inter-city roads – Multan Road and Ferozepur Road. A two kilometers long three-lane dual carriage was constructed from Multan Road to LOS stop Ferozepur Road by covering Cantt Trench under this project.
A 5.2 meter deep underpass along Canal Road to ease the traffic from Thokar Niaz Baig towards Muslim Town.
Construction of flyover from Main Boulevard Gulberg to Sherpao Bridge. Planning on the construction of Flyover at Railway Crossing, Defence Road near Kahna-Katcha on BOT basis.
A 3.4 kilometer long road at a cost of Rs 1.72 billion that connected Multan Road with Moulana Shoukat Ali Road Johar Town via Karim Block Allama Iqbal Town and Punjab University.
Accomplishment of two under-passes at Fawara Chowk and Shadman Chowk.
A signal-free connection at Canal Bridge Jinnah Hospital to ease the traffic of 153,000 vehicles per day.
Readjustment of Kharak drain.
A 7 KM long signal-free passage along Main Boulevard, Gulberg and Jail Road.
Widening and improvement of road in Karim Block Allama Iqbal Town and Main Road Sheikhupura.
Planning to construct GT Road Expressway from Shahdara to Kala Shah Kaku.
27.1 kilometer long Orange Line Metro Train mega project worth Rs 165 billion to be completed by 2017. Orange Line Train will connect Raiwind, Multan Road, Lahore Junction, Mcleod Road and Grnad Trunk Road. This project will benefit 250,000 passengers a day.
Hockey stadiums at Nankana Sahib and Sheikhupura under construction.
4.6 kilometer long link worth Rs 2.61 billion to connect Lahore Motorway (M2) near Shahpur Kanjran to Raiwind Road and Khayaban-e-Jinnah with the assistance of Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA).
One year performance of LDA.
In different housing schemes and sealed 2902 properties including offices of 40 housing schemes for failure in producing mortgage. Total 38 illegal housing schemes were reported by LDA and registered FIRs against them.
Town Planning Wing of LDA collected more than Rs 3.09 billion as commercialization fee during the year 2015.
Close monitoring of private housing schemes’ marketing campaigns. Four new private housing schemes were approved and 200 new show cause notices were sent to housing schemes’ sponsors for delaying development work.
Constitution of a commission to resolve the issues of bona-fide purchases of plots in LDA schemes. The scheme also aimed to solve the matters of illegal constructions and unlawfully developed housing schemes.
LDA established a ‘Record Sifting Cell’ with the objective of simplifying the process for plots transferring in minimum possible time by removing all obstacles.
Computerized system has been developed and implemented in order to computerize the function and records of LDA.
This project costs Rs 285 million. Files of more than 80,000 plots in housing scheme of LDA will be scanned and digitized under this project.
