Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme that will provide permanent shelter to many homeless people in Pakistan has expanded and now with the consent of PM Imran Khan included other cities such as Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
The meeting was also attended by Housing Minister Chaudhary Tariq Bashir Cheema, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khatak, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Khusro Bakhtiar, Punjab Senior Minister Aleem Khan, Sindh Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani and Task Force on Housing Chairman Zaigham Mehmood Rizvi, other senior officials. The project was launched on October 10, 2018 by Khan, under which affordable houses will be constructed in Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, Sialkot, Multan, Lodhran, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur, Gilgit, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Jhelum, Muzaffarabad, Swat, Vehari, Kasur, Laiyah, Sukkur, Chiniot, Nankana Sahib, Jaranwala and Samundari.
Minister of State for Interior, Shehryar Khan Afridi, who inaugurated the Naya Pakistan Housing Authority registration centre at Nadra’s mega centre in Blue Area, said the target of government was to ensure provision of five million affordable houses for underprivileged classes during the next five years.
