The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has requested the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to go against owners and sponsors of illegal and unapproved housing schemes to safeguard the general public from financial losses. RDA Director Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Jamshaid Aftab said that,
“The owners and sponsors of the illegal housing schemes have also been warned of strict action if they did not stop illegal marketing”
He further said that some owners and developers of illegal schemes falsely claim that their projects were legal as they have got the no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the RDA which was misleading. The housing societies claimed as illegal by the civic body on account of not having a NOC include Al-Meraj, Blue World City and Bin Alam City, Organic Farms Islamabad, Capital Smart City’s extension, CPEC Resort, Abdullah City and Khanian Homes.
RDA spokesman Hafiz Muhammad Irfan said that the MP&TE directorate had been directed to take strict action against illegal and unauthorized housing schemes, constructions and commercial activities, booking offices and encroachments without any discrimination.
