34 new foreign funded development projects in KP

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has stated that a total of 34 new foreign-funded development projects are under construction in the province with the assistance of foreign financial institutions.

While chairing a meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) for Foreign Funded Projects, Omar Ayub Khan, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs,  reviewed the projects being executed by the provincial governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Balochistan.

In regards to the projects of KPK, Secretary Economic Affairs Division Asad Haya-ud-din told the committee that 34 foreign-aided development projects are under construction by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for which the Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Union (EU), World Bank (WB), China, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Germany, Japan, and Saudi Arabia have provided $3.6 billion.

Discussing the ‘Access to Clean Energy Investment Program’ through the help of the Asian Development Bank, K-P government officials said installing solar facilities in 5946 out of 8000 schools has been concluded, and the remaining installations would be finished by June 2020. Similarly, 53 health units have been solarized while contracts for the remaining 134 have been awarded, and work on them is in progress.
