Approval of Realignment of Karakoram Highway from Thakot to Raikot

The Cabinet Committee Meeting on CPEC chaired by the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Reforms Asad Umar approved the plan for realignment and reconstruction of Karakoram Highway from Thakot to Raikot.

The meeting approved the provision of utilities for the special economic zones of CPEC, while the cabinet also ratified many other development projects, including land for Pakistan Navy in Shambha Shamail.

The Cabinet Committee Meeting also allowed the setting up of CPEC Business and Industrial Cooperation Tower in Islamabad based on public-private partnership. Under this project, 8 multi-story CPEC towers will be constructed in all provinces, including Gwadar and Islamabad.

Presiding over the meeting, Asad Omar directed the National Highway Authority and concerned stakeholders to complete the development projects timely.

The Federal Minister directed the concerned stakeholders to hand over 52 acres of land to the government as soon as possible. Besides this, Asad Umar gave the deadline of 30 days to complete the master plan of Allama Iqbal Industrial City Punjab and Bostan Special Economic Zone of CPEC.
