Asset transfer scheme for the poor class to roll out in June says PM Khan

The government plans to introduce a ‘movable/immovable asset transfer scheme’ for the underprivileged sections of the country that will be implemented full force in June. He announced the poverty alleviation program of Pakistan titled ‘Ehsas’ while dedicating an additional amount of Rs80 billion to social protection spending in the forthcoming budget and establishing a new Ministry of Social Protection/Poverty Alleviation to address issues related to poverty eradication. PM Khan stated that

“This will take the social protection spending to 1 percent of the GDP,” he said.

At the occasion, Special Assistant to the PM on Social Safety Nets and Poverty Alleviation (PASS) Dr. Sania Nishtar provided a briefing with regard to the progress on the Ehsaas initiative—an inter-sectorial program. He explained Article 38(d) from the fundamental rights that target to provide food, clothing shelter and other basic human rights for the poor class who cannot afford to earn a decent livelihood.
