According to recent news, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif suddenly visited the Lahore Flyover Bridge and the Central Business District (CBD) Underpass last Sunday. During his visit, he provided deadlines for successfully completing these two projects. He announced that LDA has two weeks for CBD Underpass Project and one month to finish the Lahore Flyover Bridge Project.
When the PM visited the Lahore Flyover Bridge, he was told that the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) had proposed a project costing PKR 1,712 million for 2021. It took two years to obtain the issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC), and it was the reason the project was delayed for two years.
During the PM’s visit to the CBD Underpass, he said that the construction delay was unfair and hired a well-known third party to check the work at the construction company's expense. He also told the officials in charge to speed up development work and pay workers three times their usual pay for working on Eid holidays.
CEO CBD Imran Amin told the PM about the CBD Underpass project and that the construction work of the project is now in its final stage. He claimed that the project would be successfully completed after Eid-ul-Fitr.
The PM asked the LDA to make sure that construction was of good quality for the safety of the people. Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, the chief secretary, and other high-ranking officials were also there during PM Shehbaz’s visit to the site.
Afterward, the PM was told about the Imamia Colony Flyover project and the planned Lahore-Sialkot Motorway Link Road. He ordered the expeditious development of the former and the formation of a three-person committee to present a comprehensive report on the latter.
