Growing Trend of Plastic Roads

Apex News

Due to global warming and climate change, the duration of the four natural seasons worldwide has somewhat changed. That's why for the last few years, whether it has been winter or summer, spring or autumn, or the rainy monsoon season, all these seasons have started a little earlier or later than their naturally allotted time. The main reason for these happenings is said to be the rise in the global average temperature of the earth.

International experts in the field of construction are constantly trying to introduce new architectural styles based on modern research in construction projects, such as plastic roads, in the face of climate change.

In today's post, Apex Group will discuss with our readers a very interesting topic - some useful information about the growing trend of plastic roads in the world. Another welcome point that needs to be mentioned here is that the first plastic road has been introduced in Pakistan on an experimental basis. Where is it located? We will talk about this later in the blog.

A revolutionary initiative of constructing plastic roads

The construction and use of plastic roads in developed countries are not surprising, but even developing countries have now begun the process of building roads on an experimental basis that are not only environmentally friendly but also extremely affordable and comfortable. They possess the ability to withstand the harshness of rains in the golden season.

Two different theories on plastic roads

One theory is that the road can be constructed entirely of used plastic material, and the other is that the plastic used in the construction process of the plastic road is mixed with asphalt and concrete, which is durable.

Who developed plastic road technology?

Plastic road technology was first developed in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu at Theagrager College of Engineering, where Indian scientists, after a detailed study, came up with the idea that road construction could be made possible by using plastic waste.

The process of building a plastic road is very simple. First, collect the used plastic such as bottles, cups, shopping bags, and other products. Rinse thoroughly in water to separate dirt from all this material. Then cut all this material into small pieces and melt it at a temperature of 165 degrees to make a mixture. It can then be used in road construction by mixing asphalt and concrete in this mixture.

Which countries are using plastic road technology?

Many countries, including the United States, Pakistan, India, the United Kingdom, Australia, Indonesia, and the Netherlands, use this plastic road technology. The Indian city of Chennai is the only metropolitan city to have started construction of about 1000 km long plastic road in 2004 using plastic waste. Similarly, plastic roads have been constructed in the Indian cities of Pune, Indore and Surat using plastic.

The UK began constructing the plastic road in January 2019 at 1.6 million British pounds. Similarly, Pakistan also used this technology at the end of last year. The United States also built a plastic highway in Las Vegas at the cost of 40 24 million.

Where is the plastic-made road in Pakistan?

Yes! Pakistan has now joined the list of countries using the road built by reusing waste and used plastic. The first road in Pakistan was built on an experimental basis last year in Islamabad's federal capital using this advanced technology. Pakistan's first plastic road was constructed in F-9 Park adjacent to Posh Sector F-10 in Islamabad's federal capital. Pakistan manufactures 55 billion plastic shopping bags annually. According to official statistics, 30 million tons of solid waste is available in Pakistan every year.

Unfortunately, it is somehow difficult to recycle such a large amount of waste plastic in Pakistan. Recycling sectors like polymers such as rubber, thermosets and waste, including plastics, have claimed that all plastic waste cannot be recycled. Plastic products are growing at an alarming rate around the world. Wouldn't it be nice if this waste plastic could do something useful for this society?
