Gwadar Oil City, PC-1 Sent For Approval
The Government of Pakistan has decided to develop the Gwadar Oil City as a new addition to energy & infrastructure project under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Gwadar Oil City is a grand project covering 80,000 acres of land with an estimated cost of Rs.10 billion, and the entire region is under a fast track development. Gwadar Oil City will serve as a storage facility for oil imported from Gulf Countries which will be then routed to China.
The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Director General Sajjad H. Baloch stated that the PC-1 for acquiring land for the project has already been sent and clarified that construction of a storage setup and related facilities requires additional funds which will be generated by investments. For this purpose, an oil refinery, petrochemical industries and storage facilities will be established in the Gwadar Oil City. The successful development of Gwadar Oil City will positively impact the Pak-China Relations and it will reduce commute to China from 40 days to 7 days. The director of GDA also enlightened the audience during a press conference that the total area of Gwadar Model Plan is 290,000 acres out of which 160,000 acres of land is reserved for residential purpose and the rest is for industrial purposes. The layout details and development plans will be further disclosed over time and it is mostly expected to be released on 14th August 2018.
Gwadar is the country’s next regional economic hub where development in residential societies is going at a peak speed. Gwadar Golf City, Canadian City Gwadar, The Central Gwadar and Naval Anchorage Gwadar are some of the top societies under development in Gwadar City.
