LDA orders to speed up the development work on Shahkam Flyover Project

The Director-General Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Chaudhry M. Ali Randhawa, has ordered the relevant departments to speed up the development work on the 606-meter long Shahkam Flyover project and complete it as soon as possible.

The Director-General LDA visited the under-construction Shahkam project and inspected development work there. On that occasion, Chief Engineer LDA Mazhar Hussain Khan briefed the Director General LDA about the development updates of the project.

While briefing, he stated that the two-way flyover is 606 meters long, consisting of three lenses. 70% of construction work has been completed, and there will be an uninterrupted flow of traffic on Canal Road, Multan Road, Defense Road and the southern part of Lahore after its completion.

While instructing the concerned officers, Director General LDA Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the development work should be expedited by increasing the human resources on the project, and all resources should be employed for the speedy and timely completion of the project. He also apologized to the people for the inconvenience.

According to LDA, the 62.2 Kanal land has been acquired for Shahkam Flyover, while the total cost of land acquired for the development of Shahkam Chowk Flyover was estimated at 569.655 million PKR.

Officials said that the land acquired for the construction of Shahkam Flyover had been paid at a commercial rate of Rs. 4.5 million and the residential rate of Rs. 2.4 million per marla.

He said that major hurdles in acquiring land for Shahkam and Sheranwala flyovers had been removed. Furthermore, the Board of Revenue has notified the rates of the District Price Assessment Committee for land acquisition of mega projects like Sheeranwala Flyover and Shahkam Flyover.
