PTI Government has decided to promulgate and enact consensus-based rent laws in Capital city to secure the interests of tenants and promote business activities for economic development in Pakistan. Minister of State for Revenue, Muhammad Hammad Azhar was addressing a trader’s convention at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) with many representatives of all local markets and a large number of traders attended the convention.
Mr. Azhar said that the government was in consultation with traders of Islamabad for several months to introduce a flat and fixed tax regime for small traders to facilitate them in tax compliance. A balanced rent control law will resolve the tax issues concerning small traders and give them a sense of security as nearly 800 tenants were evicted during the last months due to having no proper rent policy.
Furthermore, Federal Finance Minister Asad Umar had assured the local traders that the current government will pass new rent law. He urged the minister and government to honor this promise, which would be a great relief for local traders
