Saudi Arabia was earlier not taking active interest in Pakistan Politics have suddenly decided to make a staggering and important entry into it, by way of discussion with Prime Minister Imran Khan on his recent tour to KSA. According to the recent news, Pakistan is expected to receive an $8 billion package from Saudi Arabia which includes investment in port city of Gwadar under CPEC.
The 80,000-acres mega oil city at Gwadar will be used to transport oil from the Gulf region to China through the Gwadar Port. This will reduce the distance to just seven days from Gwadar to the Chinese border instead of the current forty days. Saudi Arabia has shown a keen interest in CPEC primarily to relate its economy with China and take steps in achieving its Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy with energy mega projects to reduce oil dependency.
Saudi Arabia will also be able to help China have a better crude oil supply. Therefore, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia both can benefit from the exclusive trade routes under CPEC.
“Saudi Arabia will be joining CPEC as the third strategic partner,” says Information Minister Mr. Fawad Chaudary. He stated that Saudi Arabia is the third country to be invited to join CPEC and this mega project will ensure huge investment through this platform. He further informed that Saudi finance and energy ministers will come to Pakistan in the early week of October to start head-first on the CPEC matter.
The discussions between Pak-Saudi nation by an official tour of PM Imran Khan has dissolved all animosity between the two countries and shown an olive branch which will fundamentally serve in the economic development of Pakistan.
