Things to be included in Balcony & Terrace in 2018
No home is complete without adding a balcony or two in its architectural design and sprucing it up with your personal touch to lend it a fairytale look. When it comes to a balcony in a home, people have different parameters of thinking as some perceive it as a small terrace on which to relax and sip morning/evening tea while some consider it an essential romantic spot and hideaway.  The fading trend for balcony in the past has now revived and swept back in 2018 and there is a hot demand for a dream outdoor balcony and frankly, they make a fantastic addition to most homes.  A balcony is an excellent way to transform your outdoor space into sheer heaven by putting small flower pots and foliage, hanging vines and small seating arrangement or perhaps a hammock swing to give it a comfortable yet ever-green luxury allure.
A balcony is your runway so decorate it however you like as it will bring out your aesthetics and personality. Some like to design the balcony in a bold version with dotted plants to create a natural small “greenhouse” with colourful splash of seasonal flowers. A balcony is an essential feature in homes in 2018 because of various factors not only because it adds natural beauty & value to your home but it also serves as a relaxation/meditation point and an Al Fresco Dining Area.
Some things to consider when designing a balcony include,
Positioning
The first thing to consider is the positioning of a balcony and always chose a spot that gets the plenty of sunlight.  The flowers you put up on your balcony that gets maximum sunlight will bloom and flourish in full size. Also, make sure the balcony you decide must have a beautiful view to watch. Nobody wants to stand on a balcony that gives off an unpleasant view.
Plants
Deciding on the type of plants you want to put up on your balcony is a challenging question that largely depends on your personal preference and sunlight factor. You can put up individual potted plants/terracotta flower pots or wide open trays where you can nurture cluster of flowerbeds, herbs and trees. Increase the balcony temptation by putting up hanging flower baskets, glass decoration hangings and wind chimes. You can also add up artificial flower strands on the walls and loop them up with balcony lights for a mystical aura.
Care
Different plants require different levels of care and attention. The point is how much time do you have to nurture them daily? If you are a workaholic with less spare time then put plants that require minimal watering and the opposite applies for homemakers.

How to make your balcony funkier?
Balconies can be truly a feast for the eyes if decorated and designed perfectly. Make sure that you don’t go overboard with too many flowerpots and pans and leave some room to enjoy you. Choose a wider array of seasonal flowers with colour-pop particularly the roses, daffodils, nightingale and climbing bluebells. You can either place a small wicker table with small convertible chairs or you can go with a hammock swing. Choosing the former is too strictly practical for people who want to entertain family or friends at the balcony over outdoor tea, but hammock swing option is simply for people who enjoy privacy and love to hook up in a comfortable sitting with a novel in hand.
Make sure you check out the weight your balcony can take before putting heavy furniture or too many pots! Scandinavian-style furniture works best for a minimalist but you could also look for lanterns and cushions in neutral tones to give it a garden-like image. Choose the soft and padded material for your table-topping or hammock swing. We can also put up sheer curtains to protect ourselves from too much light and heat and this fashion will also make your balcony look like your little den. Lastly, we can also hang parasols for shade and put up candles in hanging glass to finish off a romantic glow to the balcony.
We all like to look out from the balcony and enjoy the daily hustle bustle activities going on around us with a mug of warm tea in hand or maybe just to daydream. Balconies are just Love and pure indulgence and this year you will see a lot of them as an integral part of a house!
