Think 100 Times Before You Invest In Housing Schemes

Tips & Advice

Scammers are all around the globe, and Pakistan is no exception, so think 100 times before you decide to invest in any housing scheme of the country. The public development authorities have started tightening their nose around the fake real estate developers, but many people are still falling prey to their cheating traps. Let's shed light on one of the recent examples of the country, i.e. Unauthorized housing schemes in Rawalpindi District.

A few days back, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) advised citizens not to make their investments in unauthorized housing schemes. DG RDA Tahir Zaffar Abbasi said many illegal and unregistered housing schemes were functioning without acquiring the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from public authorities.

A list of fake housing schemes has been published by RDA, according to which more than 300 schemes exist only in the circumference of the Rawalpindi District. Now, the spokesperson for RDA has strictly directed the relevant authorities to take strict action against the culprits.

In a request letter to the PEMRA, the Rawalpindi Development Authority issued orders to private TV channels to put a stop to airing advertisements of the listed illegal housing schemes. Moreover, the RDA sent letters to the Metropolitan Planning & Traffic Engineering (MP&TE), the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd, the Pakistan Telecommunication Ltd, and Islamabad Electric Supply Company to stop providing services to fake housing schemes.

Unfortunately, property fraud- especially plot file scams- is a story of every second city of Pakistan. The innocent citizens need to think 100 times before investing in any housing scheme. It is awful news that TV channels are airing those schemes by filling their deep pockets with wealth.

You should buy the services of a professional real estate agent to confirm whether the aired housing scheme is legal or not. Always contact the development authority of your city, check the property's legal documents, and get the services of a property agent before making any decision to invest in the housing scheme.
